A population of nearly 25 million and centuries of history. On this journey, after touring significant attractions, you will feel the astonishing transformation between the old and new in Shanghai.

Your local professional guide will meet you at the hotel lobby, or your preferred time, to start your private day tour.

The first stop is the old French concession area, where you will visit a lovely park. Enjoy morning activities such as ballroom dancing, Tai Chi, group singing, and water calligraphy. Interact with locals and learn about their culture from your guide. Walk through the area to appreciate the beautiful neighborhood with typical "French trees" and local lane houses. This trendy area was once the center of colonial life.

Next, you'll visit the Jade Buddha Temple to admire two beautiful Buddhas carved from Burmese jade and learn about local religious history and culture.

After that, stop at People's Square/Park, a great place to observe daily life. On weekends, the famous Marriage Market takes place here, where parents seek partners for their single children. The area also features various architectural styles.

For lunch, dine at a local Chinese restaurant where you can try delicious Shanghai dumplings, noodles, vegetables, and meats. Your guide will recommend the best options based on your preferences.

In the afternoon, visit the famous Yu Garden and its old town area. This 500-year-old Ming Dynasty garden includes the Huxing Ting tea house and the Nine-turning Bridge. Outside Yu Garden, you will see the Old City God Temple and Shanghai old street markets. This is a great place for shopping, with items like tea, antiques, Chinese seals, souvenirs, and toys.

Continue the tour to the Bund area, regarded as an open museum of architecture with 26 different styles, including Gothic, Baroque, Romanesque, Classicism, and Renaissance. Stroll along the Bund for views of famous skyscrapers such as the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Shanghai World Financial Tower, Jinmao Tower, and the Shanghai Tower, the tallest building in Asia. Learn about Shanghai’s colonial history dating back to the 1840s.

Then, visit Nanjing Road, a bustling shopping street that was part of the British concession about 150 years ago. Experience the vibrant atmosphere of this busy Bazaar Street.

Your final stop will be Xintiandi in the French concession. This trendy area has been rebuilt with original bricks and features the famous Shanghai “Shikumen” architecture, popular for middle-class families in the 1920s-1930s. Now it’s filled with pubs, bars, and restaurants. Enjoy a cup of coffee or a drink.

Your guide will drop you back at the hotel at the end of the tour.

Your private day tour can also include other popular sites such as Longhua Temple, Shanghai Jewish Museum, Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Urban Planning Center, TianziFang Creative Area, Confucius Temple, Shanghai Art Propaganda Museum, Shanghai City History Museum, or one of the top buildings (Shanghai Tower, Shanghai World Financial Center, Oriental Pearl Tower, Jinmao Tower) for a bird's-eye view of Shanghai.
